About Retreat
The retreat theme was:
This retreat, instead of lesson learnt, it was more of a reminder to me. Reminder of, how great God is, how great is the word of God, that it is able to change lives, that the old must be gone and the new must be put on, not only be hearer but also a doer of God's work. It was also a reminder that one must be humble, giving thanks at all time and to set the heart right.
The speakers personal testimonies were to me a personally encouraging at the same time a constant reminder that in order to "Present myself to God as one approved", it requires a huge amount of effort. God called us to be the salt and the light of the world (matthew 5:13-16). That I should constantly reflect on myself, if what I was doing is Christ like?
The other things learnt is that Head knowledge of God's Word is of no use with out the heart. Not only must we talk the talk but also to walk the talk. In order to walk the talk, knowledge of the bible is important, but it is more important to set our hearts right and be diligent in seeking after Him.
It was a humbling experience when the speaker shared about his testimonies. He shared about his personal stories and how God know us to the finest detail. It is indeed that God don't look for people who are prideful but look at people who are full of humbleness.
Through out this 4 day 3 night retreat, it struck me hard that I should be thankful to HIM, in many areas of my life and that it would only be appropriate that I should be more ernest in knowing his word and have a prayerful life.
Anyway, heres the retreat theme song.....
2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Blessed is the man
Blessed is the man, the man who does not walk
In the counsel of the wicked, blessed is the man
He who rejects the way, rejects the way of sin
And who turns away from scoffing
Blessed is the man
But his delight by day and night
is the law of God Almighty
He is like a tree, a tree that flourishes
Being planted by the water, blessed is the man
He who brings forth fruit, his leaf will wither not
For in all he does he prospers, blessed is the man
For his delight by day and night
Is the law of God Almighty
The wicked are not so, for they are like the chaff
Which the wind blows clean away,
The wicked are not so,
The wicked will not stand, on the judgement day
Nor belong to God's people,
The wicked will not stand
But God knows the way of righteous man
And ungodly ways will perish.
Blessed is the man, the man who does not walk
In the counsel of the wicked, blessed is the man
