Flag Day

Well its my first programme fo me to co-ordinate, its a flag day event and I am tasked to called up all the school in singapore and certain people to ask if they were intereted.

So far I had called up 9 schools and it seems like either they pick up the call or they don't at all..... but those who pick up, all were using the same excuse of rejecting the idea....
except my secondary school who informed that they will get back to me....
:)
the excuse they used were ranging from....
1) Its the school holiday and it will be hard to get the students back.
2) Its the "O" levels so the school doesnt have the time to do this...
3) All of them have completed their community service involvement programme (CIP) and CCA points for the year has already been awarded, so its no point for them to do it....

Like what kind of excused are those??

1) school holiday....?? hard to get the student back?
common, if your interested, I am sure there will be a few students who are willing to help out, I mean you as a teacher in-charge didn't even bother to ask... and gave this lame excuse...

2)Its the "O" levels???
OMG.... nobody is even asking the "O" level students to do it... dont tell me the whole school only has got "O" level students??? the secondary one till three also taking "O" levels???

3) All of them completed their CIP and was awarded CCA points??
Completed CIP hours means no need to get involve at all??
awarded CCA points means they cant do it for a good cause??
Think the goverment here puts CIP is to get students to be involve in the community, but it didn't say that once they clock the hours they no need to do anymore.... Like it would kill to help just another 8 hours or so....

All that is required of is maybe 20 or so student from each school and that would make up a huge amount of people in the flag day, but sad to say all the respond so far is totally ugly.

Maybe its due to certain charitable organisation that spoilt the market that resulted in such a cold respond.
Anyway this organisation which I am working for, they showed in the brochures what kind of charity we are doing and how much is taken to run this charitable acts per year. So at least it showed some transparancy in its work, but all it takes is one other charity organisation to spoil the whole image of all the others.....
Being skeptical about this, I bet most people would event think twice to donate, let alone people coming forward to help out, Sad ain't it?

Oh well..... Anyway, If any of you reading this (be it people who know me or whoever) in singapore is interested in helping out on the flag day which is being help on the 26 november 2005, its a saturday.
Do drop me a comment or if you have any enquires and I will get back to you ASAP.
All volunteers would greatly be appreciated.
