Take Leave???

Haiz... seems like taking leave has become a liability for me.... for the past 2 shift or so.. had book my leave already... but always same result.... last min tell me not enough man... have to come back and work...... now last minute again.. tell me tomorrow not enough people... i have to come back and work.... that was the last straw.......
3 times in a matter of 5 days... tell me i cant take leave..... kaoz...... we NS guys... leave not leave arh.... always not enough people... then Ns people have to come back.........
the leave is a liability...... then why is leave given to us??? just coz some people of slightly higher rank seem untouchable... or dont bother to ask......why dont ask them come back.... just coz got no guts to ask...............???
